12 | 1626 | - 1626: Around 1626, Hendrickje Stoffels is born in Bredevoort. She would later become the mistress and model of the famous painter Rembrandt van Rijn.

14 | 1636 | - 1636: The plague strikes the area. Several people die of this 'black death'.

15 | 1646 | - 1646: Lightning strikes the gunpowder tower of the Bredevoort castle. The entire castle and several houses in the vicinity are destroyed. Several people, including the sheriff, are killed.

16 | 1648 | - 1648: All the church bells ring in celebration of the peace of Münster, which ends the Dutch War of Independence.
