    • Teunis en Berendina werden op 26 april lidmaat van de Christelijke Afgescheiden Gemeente te Winterswijk en vertrokken in 1847 naar Amerika.

      De oudste zoons, Gerrit Jan en Tobias, zaten niet op de Phoenix. Zij waren om dienst te ontvluchten eerder vertrokkenvolgens artikel Pas, corresp. van Eyck.

    On November 21, 1847, the propeller Phoenix perished on Lake Michigan, a couple of miles off the shore from Sheboygan. About 250 people died and only 43 people survived. Most of the passengers were Dutch immigrants.
