    • Zij waren lid van de Christelijke Afgescheiden Gemeente van Winterswijk, zij werden op 25 mei 1843 aangenomen als lidmaat. Gerrit Jan vertrekt in 1847 naar Amerika, zijn vrouw is dan reeds overleden.

      Bij hun in huis woonden nog Beerndina Beernink, geb. 17 januari 1799, naaister, dochter van Teunis Beernink en Geertruid Slotboom, en Jan Derk Reessink, geb. 24 april 1823, knecht, zoon van Berent Reessink en Willemina Koks. Zij waren beiden lid van de Christelijke Afgescheiden Gemeente en zijn eveneens in 1847 geemigreerd.

    Passengers on the Phoenix.
    On November 21, 1847, the propeller Phoenix perished on Lake Michigan, a couple of miles off the shore from Sheboygan. About 250 people died and only 43 people survived. Most of the passengers were Dutch immigrants.
