    Passengers on the Phoenix.
    On November 21, 1847, the propeller Phoenix perished on Lake Michigan, a couple of miles off the shore from Sheboygan. About 250 people died and only 43 people survived. Most of the passengers were Dutch immigrants.

    • Zij was als dienstbode mee naar Amerika gegaan met de familie van Hendrik Jan Wilterdink. Zijn vrouw was invalide en had daardoor hulp nodig. Willemina had al familie in de Verenigde Staten, Gerrit Jan ten Dolle, die reeds in Sheboygan County woonde.
      In de brief van Droppers wordt zij genoemd als overlevende als de 'mijd van Wilterdink'
      Willemina werd op 18 januari 1846 lidmaat van de Christelijke Afgescheiden Gemeente te Winterswijk en vertrok in 1847 naar Amerika.
